got a new XD

Well my wife did, she really liked my full size XD 45 but the grip was a little big for her hands so she got herself the compact 45, now I have to find out how I'm going to pay for all this .45 ammo I'll be buying.

Reloading for .45 acp is proably the easiest of all the pistol cartridges. There are many established loads and it takes very little time to get a load that works in your gun. Setting up the dies in a good machine takes littler or no experiance as well. Get some books, read up, check out other forums, and get to shootin'!!

After about 2K rounds, the reloader is already paid for, esp. reloading 45cals. Also, you will need a lot of information to know. You don't want to over or under charge your loads.

You might pay for the reloading press in 2,000 rounds but you won't pay for all of the supporting equipment and supplies. I did the math earlier this year while contemplating reloading as an alternative to buying .45acp WWB and it would have taken two years worth of firing 400 rds a week to pay for the press, the scale, the dies, the brass, the primers, the projectiles and the powder.

Reloading for economics only makes sense if you look at the up front investment as being something you will not recoup until at least your 2nd or 3rd year of shooting and reloading.

That is true if you're an occassional shooter. If you're shooting competitively, you definitely benefit from reloading.
