Question Different angle on low left prob

I'd been shooting a Glock 19 for awhile before I got my XD.45 Service. I haven't had any issues with the "low and left syndrome". Does any one here think it might have something to do with what I transitioned from? My wife did not have this issue with her XD9sc either. Her last gun was a Taurus .357 snubby.

I don't think they are XD things in particular. Remeber the XD is bringing in people from outside of handguning (like me), and we make typical rookie errors, like flinching, jerking, improper grip, etc. that lead to low left shooting. Also those coming from 1911s might be used to lighter triggers with less travel. Since you come from a similar platfrom, and seem to be an enxperienced shooter you had less adjusment.

Enjoying my XD .45ACP Tactical. need to break in my 870, and my wife's XDSC9.

I carry my XD45 ACP Tactical, in a SuperTuck from CB. Very comfortable, easy to hide, easy to draw, and easy to reholster.

Looking for an HDR*, either an AR-180B, or Kel-Tec FBR.

HDR, Homeland Defense Rifle

I'm glad I'm not the only one shooting low and to the left. My son and I both got XD 45 compacts, and both of us are shooting low and to the left. I also let a friend shoot it and he shot low and to the right. Being new to this, I'm sure it's just us and more practice will help.

99% of the time, the "low left" is due to finger placement on the trigger and finger pressure. For most people the trigger lines up with the first joint of the trigger finger, which results in too much finger pressure and pulling down and left (or down and right if you're left-handed). It takes time to learn to use the middle-pad of the finger and pulling the trigger straight back. Those who have also shot Glocks concentrate on feeling the trigger break and have learned the "trick" of finger placement and control.

I'll try that next time.

Concentrate on what is sometimes called the three amigo's, which are the middle, index and pinky finger on the firing hand. If you pull with these fingers as you pull the trigger it will cause you to shoot low and left for a right handed shooter, low and right for a left handed shooter. So to sum it up, isolate the trigger finger from the rest of the hand. Hope it helps.

Lots of folks have this issue, just take a look at the forums. It's easily corrected for most. My personal issue for the longest time what my John Friggen Wayne grip. Once I resolved that I'm a decent shot with just about any semi-auto.

For you all having the issue.. just follow the advise given. It's solid! If that doesn't seem to make sense to you, there are targets you can snag from the internet and print that will show you common "user" errors and give you corrections based on POI on the target.

I just took the easy route and put adjustable sights on mine. Some report problems and hassles with installation. I guess I got lucky, put the slide between two pieces of wood and locked it in a vise and just beat them out. Got them from Dawson Precision and man do they show up nice and brite (fiber optic).
