Thumbs up XD45 Compact 1st range trip

When I bought my XD45 Compact last Saturday (Feb 10th) I thought "Please Lord don't let this thing shoot as good as it feels or I'm going to have to sell a bunch of Glocks". Apparently he wasn't listening.

My first 23 rds went into a group about the size of a baseball from 10yds. My second 23rds were fired as fast as I could reacquire the front sight (not get it aligned, just see it). At 10yds the group opened up to about 6", which is quite acceptable for me at that rate of fire.

My brother went with me and we were surprised to notice that the XD was much more pleasant to shoot than his all steel Springfield Commander.

All in all we fired 103 rds through it today. 100 rds of Winchester white box and three rds of Hydra-Shoks that I had left in my ammo box. I experienced absolutely no problems of any kind. It was very pleasant to shoot the XD.

I prefer the grip on this to my Glock 23 2nd generation (the finger grooves on the 3rd generation Glocks don't fit my fingers). The G23 has been my carry pistol for years, but I can definitely see this pistol becoming my carry gun after some more range time

To anyone thinking about buying a 45 I highly recommend checking out the Springfield XD45 Compact.

I've been trying to give my other .45s range time, but I miss my XD45. Next time, I'll get it out.

Glad you like it.

Yep, looks like you are one of many who prefer the XD grip/grip angle to Glocks. I've long since sold all my Gs Glad the Compact performed well in your hands, it's definitely a keeper
