Got my XD45C today!

Did not get a chance to shoot it yet but hey it feels good!! Questions, first the mags, once placed into the weapon loaded or unloaded are a chore to say the least to eject. I am talking sore thumps and index fingers from working both sides to try and loosen them up.

The 13rd mag is horrible. The 10rd mag is smooth with the slide locked but when it is closed it is hard as well. What do I need to do to smooth this up?

Next, not really interested in the 13rd mags, the 10rd mags are good enough for me, where do I buy more? I would like to get 5 or 6 of them.

Thanks in advance and here are some purdy pics:

PS XD Gear SUCKS SO BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on the Compact and welcome to the forum!

The mag release will ease-up the more it is used. However, if you push lightly on the bottom of the mag when you push the release button, the mag will come out easily (especially if you are trying to eject a full mag).

I haven't seen any of our forum vendors offering the 10rnd mags yet, but several people have purchased them directly from SA for $26 each.

Send a message via Yahoo to puma85
the weight alone adds enough pressure to the mag release that its a PITA to eject, now ad the closed slide and you add down pressure, and weight. like xd9sub said a little push on the bottom of the mag and a press of the button will release the pressure.

The mag release will ease up as the mag springs relax. In my opinion PistolGear http://www.pistolgear.com/ is the best place for mags. They are Springfield factory mags and are $22.75 for the 10 round and $23 for the 13 round so for $.25 I'd get the 13 round mag.

Congrats on the new gun you will love it.

As others have already said, the mag release eases up with time and use. When I first bought my XD45C earlier in January, I thought something had to be wrong with it. Here we are just a few short weeks (and a couple hundred rounds) later and it's smooth as silk.

Congrats on the purchase!

Couldn't find the 10rnd mags for the Compact, the 10rnd mags listed are for the service/tactical models (ie. full size mag, just CA compliant).

If I missed something, please point me to the correct link

That is what I hoped it was, just a break in issue. The mags do it whether loaded or unloaded and I did notice that if you life up on them it was a bit easier. I was just hoping it was the break in or something simple to fix as I did not want to do that for good.

What are some of the aftermarket things that being done to the "C" model?

What are some of the things that folks are doing in after market for the compact? I would love to see one of the fat guide rods and a new match grade barrel in the future.

Probably going to buy the night sights first though, just not sure which. Got to say, I shot it today and love it. Also read an article in a gun rag with it on the front cover and found they were shooting 10-12" low at 25yrds. Anyone see this yet?

Out of the box, my XD45 Service was dead-on, however my Compact was shooting very low. I suspect it had the wrong factory sights installed, and I corrected the sighting problem by installing TFO sights which were 50% taller in the rear sight than the factory rear sight. Problem solved

I have TFO sights on both XD45s, very nice!

The guy in the gun rag stated that it was because the front sight was too high for the weapon. He was showing less than 2" groups at 30' but showed of almost foot drop at 75' due to the sight.

I am probably not going to worry about it as it is a bad breath gun and for that purpose it will do just fine. I plan to get new sights anyway but have not figured out what I want yet. I think I would like to have the trigger tuned at some time as it seems a bit heavy but I want to wait until I get about 1000 rounds down the pipe first.

Has anyone been doing anything custom to the compacts yet?
