Im taking the advice of many in this forum- Ive already shot the 4" service in both .40 and .45. I live in San Diego, but Ill be damned if I can find a tactical in the area to shoot. Ive even looked at places in Oceanside, still with no luck.
Does any one know of a shooting range somewhere in the area for me to shoot a tactical? If I cant find one, Im just going to buy the 4" compact. Thanks for any help or comments... |

Good luck I was lucky just to find one to buy in San Diego. No doubt there are more Service models availble to buy & rent. If you like the Service model then you'll probably like the Tactical. The Tactical's longer sight radius makes it the easier of the two to shoot accurately IMO.

The Firing Line in Northridge (LA area) has a 5" you can rent. If you're in the area, it's worth checking out. It really put the hooks in me. Easy to shoot, and surprising accuracy. Right now I have a 4" in .40 S&W. I don't know if it's the longer sight radius, the softer recoil, or both, but I can shoot the 5" .45acp much more accurately for much longer. I've had one on order since May of last year. Sigh.

There is a BIG difference between 5" and 4" service IMO. I can shoot a fly off a Can with my 5", and I can shoot a Can off a fly with my 4". the Tactical has better trigger pull , better balance/handling/etc/etc. LOOOVE my 5". I conceal it to.

Miguel Enjoying my XD .45ACP Tactical. need to break in my 870, and my wife's XDSC9. I carry my XD45 ACP Tactical, in a SuperTuck from CB. Very comfortable, easy to hide, easy to draw, and easy to reholster. Looking for an HDR*, either an AR-180B, or Kel-Tec FBR. HDR, Homeland Defense Rifle |
