XD45 Silhouette
Well I have had my xd for about 3 weeks now. I just finished my CCW class today. After class we just played around with silhouette shots, they use 8x11 paper for your qualifying shooting. Well here is what I got first and second clip of the day with the XD. Oh and it shoots and feels great. I did shoot low left first 100 or so down the barrel. But I think I am doing good now with about 400 throught it.
![]() Just for kicks here is my XD45 next to my 1911 3.5".

Low and to the left is common with most new shooters. With the right grip and enough practice you will be putting them center mass soon enough. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Thank you. The more I shoot it the closer to center I get. Prectice makes perfect.

Nice shooting and congrats! I'm still a bit low and left, but notice less of it when tightening my grip and keeping the firing hand high.

The target was 10 yard out. Thats the max for ccw qualifing here so I stuck with that. I have found when shooting the xd I stiffen my wrists and shoulders, stand slightly sideways and don't hold on so tight. Believe it or not my instructor taught me to never cross my thumbs, something I always did and it helped too. The 1911 is a RIA. I am thinking about getting ride of it for a xd40 service and eventually replacing the 1911 with a nicer model but same lenth.
