Had my XD-45 for a month...I love it!!
I've been trolling around here for about a month now, I actually bought my XD back in the middle of December. Got the 4" service in black at a local place. It's the first pistol I actually own and it goes along with my .308 Rem700 and single shot .410.
Got about 800 rounds through it so far and have yet to have any problems. I love the gun so far...couldn't be any happier with my purchase! I got the decal grips and felt like I needed something else, so I just got the Pachmayr #3 slip-on and need to try that configuration out. Going tomorrow to fill out the application for the Alabama pistol permit, which includes concealed carry. Still not sure about carrying, but after being around on here I feel like it's almost an obligation...especially considering the safety of my new wife. I'll have to take some good pics and post them up tomorrow. If I do decide to carry I will definitely have more questions for you guys. Thanks for all the info so far!! |

Welcome to the forum. The XD45 is a great carry weapon. I used the service model for 9 months, until I picked up the Compact model. Either one will work great for CCW

Here they are: Couple A-Zooms to help me get used to the trigger ![]() Target rounds ![]() Picked up a couple extra mags thanks to another member on here for the heads-up on the sale from Midway a few weeks ago

“Just because you went out and bought you a shiny new guitar don’t make you a rockstar!” I am by no means talking down on the skill you have, just never stop training. It takes a certain mind set to be able to defend yourself and loved ones. Otherwise you could end up arming an attacker with your weapon. Take care and hope you go through with your CCW and training. spcwes |

Welcome, Forker! I have the XD45 Service too so I know you are going to like yours. It is a great shooter, but if you don't reload (which I do) it's going to get expensive.

Thanks for the welcome and the advice. I am by no means a stranger to firearms, this just happens to be the first pistol I personally own. I also know that I'm not a "rockstar", which is why I feel like I need to be perfectly comfortable with the gun before I decide to carry it as well as get some of the formal training that was mentioned. As for the snap caps, I probably wouldn't have bought them except for the fact that I had a gift card for a local shop and its always easier to spend gift card money.
The price of ammo definitely stings. I just picked up 1000 rounds of blazer aluminum from wideners, so that should hold me off for a while. I was almost set on buying reloading equipment, but I think I'm gonna hold off for a little while until I know for sure how much I'm gonna run through and if the initial investment would be worth it in my situation. |

I know what you mean. I hated to pay that much for 5 snap caps. Hopefully they will last for a long time.
