Does Trigger Get Worse with Use?
I have had my XD45 Compact for about a month with about 1,000 rounds through it. I had a very good trigger job on it, but there is not much that can be done with the creep as the sear pushes the striker slightly back and releases it. It is hard to remember back, but it seems as if this creep was smoother when the gun had fewer rounds though it. It seems like as the sear and striker wear in, there is more contact surface between them.
Not being able to get replacement parts I hesitate doing anything to the sear or striker, even polishing. Has anyone experienced the same deterioration that I think I'm feeling, and has anyone found a way of reducing the felt creep? The trigger is set at 4#, and I do not want to go any lower, in that I plan to carry it when my holster arrives. |

Hmm, didn't even now that the compact 45's where even out. And that they have adj. triggers. But with that said, All of my XD's got better with more rounds shot.
Here is a guy that told me that they can do a lot with the XD's trigger. www.springerprecision.com |

I did not mean to indicate they had adjustable triggers, although Springer or Canyon Creek could adjust them.

All of my XDs' triggers have smoothed out after a while. I'd say that was better and not worse.

Mine was pretty good when I got it, but it has gotten smoother the more I've shot it. |

1+ on the trigger getting smoother. Who did the trigger job for you to get it down to 4#?

Actually the trigger weight is decieving, since the gunsmiths measure it from the tip of the trigger. I believe Springer or Caynon Creek will give you a carry trigger job at 4# at the tip of the trigger. I was a little disappointed in this matter, because I expected 4# at the center of the trigger. Mine is over 5# at the center. Since it is a carry gun, I will probably let it be.

If my guns start to feel like the trigger may not be what it used to I detail strip them and clean everything. Then I apply a grease or dry lubricant to the right parts and it's as good as new, or broken in new, or whatever.

I've heard that if you play with it too much, it'll fall off.....or you'll go blind, so be careful.
