XD-45 ACP Service vs. Tactical for IPSC Competition

Just getting started in IPSC competitive shooting. Have shot Production using 9mm CZ SP-01.

Would like to try .45 ACP and am considering a new XD-45. I unsure what the pros/cons are for the 4" Service versus the 5" Tactical for competition. We are not a CCW state here in WI ( ) so carry is not a concern in the decision.

Any thoughts out there to help me make my decision??

I'd get the .40 cal in tactical Rob Latham knows what to use I reckon. But if you're dead keen on .45 go the tactical.

I've been an IPSC shooter for years and have been addicted to the Glocks for the past 6, used G34 in limited and G35 with a Eotech in Open, but am trying to kick the Glock habit and started 2 matches back with the XD 45 Tactical. I added the green Hiviz front sight and the +3 round basepads from Arrendendo and am almost as fast n accurate as the Glocks, I figure it'll taske a couple more matches to pass my averages I had using the Glocks. I shoot in "B" class, as a Senior, The +3 pads won't boost you into Open, they meet Limited length requirements and 17 rounds of 45 (counting one in the tube) is a hole punching machine.
What state you shooting IPSC in?
