Question about threaded barrels and XD45Cs and lasers
Hey guys,
It's been a while since my last post; I'm a SomethingAwful forums member and I spend most of my days over there with all the cynical assholes like me I've got the full-size Tactical model, and I've already put about ~1750 rounds through it, ~10% of those being hollow points... zero failures or misfeeds. I had a JHP catch the feed ramp ONE time when I failed to slingshot the slide back, but it cleared with a tug of the slide. I just recently installed a Don's stainless steel guide rod and #22 recoil spring, haven't had the chance to test it out at the range but I've got a couple hundred WWB and some assorted +P defense ammo in the closet that's itching to be burned up. I had a couple questions about some possible future purchases. While I have looked and looked, I can't seem to find anywhere that sells threaded barrels for the XD45. Am I just looking in the wrong places? I just think it would be nice to be at the liberty to throw a silencer or a compensator on there one day for super-fun happy range time. Secondly, I've been eyeing the new XD45 Compact model, which came out hardly a month after I laid my hands on my first firearm purchase, leaving me scouring in the corner of my room at my missed opportunity. After toiling over pictures, I noticed the designs are basically the same, although the compact requires different magazines. It got me thinking: Would you be able to mate an XD45C frame to an XD45 slide? Particularly, the Tactical model? Because if so, all I would need to do is buy the frame and some mags and I'd have myself two guns in one. Furthermore, where could I get my hands on a compact lower and roughly how much would it cost? Lastly, my question about lasers. Although there are more cons than pros to lasers, I'm still considering the purchase of an M6 to go on my XD. Would you recommend this? Are there any better lasers/combos out there, or God willing, lasergrips for the 45 Tact? |

Do you have a link to the Bo-mar website? My google-fu is failing me. |

It's Barsto, not Bo-Mar. Frank at EFK can make you a barrel, it will take a little bit of time, however.

You say EFK can make one even if it's not listed on the web site? You think it'd cost extra for a "custom" job? Not to sound like a penny pincher, but after all's said and done, a threaded barrel, suppressor, and thread protector will probably run me over a grand, BEFORE the tax stamp. |

I recently bought the XD Service 45acp and am considering either getting the EFK ported barrel or the threaded one with a compensator. I am leaning towards the ported so I can still swap the barrels out when carrying it.
Anyone had experience with either? Thanks! |
