Has anyone here actually swapped XD45 slides between frames to see if they are interchangeable?
I called SA and of course they said No, you need to buy a new gun. Problem is, I already have alot of money in my XD45 slide (Dawson tritiums and Duracoat), but I know Compact will be better carry. So has anyone swapped and shot them to see if interchangeable or not? If interchangeable, I was planning on buying the Compact, swapping the slides (which is the serial # part in any case), then selling the lightly used frame with brand new upper.

Now if they come out with a subcompact XD45 that'll be different. Notice the difference. ![]()

Been there, done that. Haven't shot the different combinations, but everything looks and works fine.
I won't be shooting the different combinations since both guns are out now for trigger jobs and once the triggers are tuned to the specific slide I wouldn't trust the tolerances to be right. Pics of different combinations Here's a thought: Get a grip chop on your Service to match the Compact mags. . .

Thanks AKM, that makes me feel better about ordering the Compact.

The first thing I thought when I saw this thread was AKM's multiple XD45s, but you beat me to the post!!
I do agree with ya about not messing with them once they are tuned. Funny how that works with guns and cars too. I might get my pistol done too, but right now it is the lose nut behind the safety grip that gives me the most problems.
