XD45 Tactical first time to the range report...

As far as problems with LSWC, try running them shorter. I tried initially using 1.250-1.260 OAL and had problems feeding. I shortened them to 1.230 OAL and have had NO problems. I use Bear Creek Moly, 200 Gr, with 5.2-5.4 of either 231 or HP-38. These powders are rated very similar on the burn chart, but I do think that HP-38 feels hotter against the same weight of 231. FWIW.

Interesting you find the muzzle too light. I find the muzzle a bit heavier than my 1911s. Of course I have not added weight to my 1911s as many have. Overall I like the muzzle weight of my XD45 tac.

re: cocked striker indicator. Why is that such a problem for you that you feel you must remove it?

Thanks for all the comments, fellows...

Yeah, I'm more used to the balance of the 1911 as to muzzle flip -- IT IS not a problem, just my feel...

TOF:

No expert with the XD, but my LSWC (Lazer Cast) are set at 1.225" OAL - others have suggested close to this length as well...

AKM:

Well, the cocking indicator is not really a problem, but it did distract me several times during rapid fire with the sun at my back -- my eyes just migrated to that shined pin. But mainly, it stuck me a few times when I was checking battery with the LSWC. I'll just shorten and smooth it a bit then apply cold blue and that will solve MY problem with it. I'll still be able to thumb check it for cocked, although the pretravel on the trigger does that quite well...

Removing the chambered round indicator will just remove the shark fin -- I'll still be able to check the chamber (if necessary) by looking down the slot -- I just won't have the visible fin -- more along the line of SA's 1911 chambered round indicator. Besides, I like the cleaner look without the fin...
