Dang, Want a 45 XD TAC But........

I gotta tell you, I like that gun. I shoot my brothers on a regular basis and it's impressive. I'm a big Glock fan (G30) but there could be definitely room in my meager arsenal for the XD. The BIG drawback for me is no parts availability. What's up with that? The HD/XDs have been out for a while. It just gripes me to perhaps send my gun in to SA for every little thing. Anyword on when XD (or anyone else) will open the parts bin? Thanks gang.

The parts policy is not ideal and I hope it changes. Personally, I would not let it keep you from buying an XD.

I have never bought a car nor a gun, or anything else for that matter, based on the availability of parts. I am more worried about the quality and value. I leave repairs up to the experts and manufacturer.

I have to echo what old school says. I love all of my XD's but the Tactical .45 is my lover of choice.

I'd like to think that I've got more brains and talent that the "experts" who work on guns and cars.

No offense, but brains and talent only get you so far... I like to work on things myself and take a large portion of everything I own apart for fun. I however, do not put responsibility for my naievity on the manufacturer. It sounds to me like part of the parts problem is a liability issue. Springer has to operate in the "they just make a better idiot" mentality.

this is the one topic I alway get called on by other Glock (plastic guns) owners. more than hafl of those that Approach me and shoot my XD, love it...but even less ever go through the purchase, because of the parts issue.

No it's true, most of them are competition shooters...and for them (Me too), that's a big challenge to over come.

If SA said, okay we'll send you the parts, however it will void your warranty, how would you like that deal?

If I offered a lifetime warranty, I wouldn't want to be responsible for damage caused by someone whom I haven't certified working on the gun.

Anybody could mess up the job/customization and then want SA to fix it under warranty.

Thoughts?
