I didn't say I HAD more talent and brains, but that I'd like to think that I...."
I do let the experts do what they're trained to do; however, parts-swappers will never be considered as experts by me. |

Buy two XD's then. 1 to use, the other for spare parts. The one for spare parts will just be sitting around because I have yet to hear or read of a major break on an XD that can't be fixed by some simple aftermarket part (i.e. guide rod, spring, etc.).

I've been a Glock armorer since 1990 and the Glock OEM parts that I have been required to replace due to breakage or wear has been minimal. As a Sigarms armorer I have had to send a couple P2340's back to the company for repair (cracked frames, which were replaced), but I've never had an internal part needing to be replaced.
I like the idea of having parts available to do emergency repairs if needed, but in practice I believe it's a non-issue. I certainly didn't let it keep me from buying both an XD 45 Tac and an XD 45 Compact. |
