Had my first FTF today
I was at the range today shooting two boxes of WWB value pack for my 45 Tactical. Almost through the end of the first box I had my first failure to feed (I guess). I was shooting a mag that I loaded, then at the last round it didn't go bang. I check the gun and noticed the slide was partially back and the last round was almost vertical in a nook created by the chamber opening and mag area. The brass of the cartridge had a slight dent. Do not recall if the round came with the dent or the dent was created by the slide partially racked and the failed feed/fire. Dropped the mag and pulled the slide back all the way and the round came loose and fell. Put the round aside and finished the first box. Fired off the dented round before starting the new box and it fired fine.
On the good news, I had a great range day. My XD now probably has around 700 rounds fired since I bought it. I actually got a blister on my trigger finger. I normally dont shoot 200 rounds at a session. I guess I need to develop some resistance. I was hitting COM on all my targets with very little low/left (7 yards). Had a few good head shots as well. It really clicked today. I love my XD!!! |

I had some troubles with WWB in my .40 Subbie. I think it has something to do with the rim inconsistencies on that ammo, but I could be wrong. At any rate, it was with one box of ammo, and I didn't have the problem after that.

Yesterday my son was shooting my XD45 Service using WWB 230 grain LRN and had three FTFs in one box. The symptoms were the same as described in the initial post in this thread. His grip and stance looked good to me and the magazine had no apparent defects.
