Mag problem?

So My dad's xd45 is having feeding problems. I think it's the mags. the spring and follower stay down when the top rounds are pushed out. I'm thinking it's the mag loader, cuz when i load the mag by hand its fine. i think the loader is binding the follower. help?

Try this:

After loading the mag, hold it in your right hand, by the bottom of the mag, rounds facing you, and slam the mag into the palm of your left hand (might help to learn the iron palm kung-fu trick, or if you're married like me, you probably have some good calluses built up ). This will ensure that all rounds are seated against the back of the mag.

Also, if you are unable to get the last round in, it might be because one of them isn't properly aligned in the mag.

Yeah, i do the mag-slam thing, and as i push the rounds down it has become harder than it should be. This problem just started recently, it didn't do this when he first got it.

I have two XD 45's w/9 mags for them, two of the older mags, from the used XD 45 acp I got had the exact same problem, w/o using the mag loader (BTW the glock 20/21 size mag loader fits and works great), called springfield and they said, send them back and they will send me two brand new ones, no fuss no muss, and they said they would reimburse me for shipping.

The other 7 mags have had no issues...

good luck with them but I'd send them back to the factory

I've seen that happen. First, check for any scratches or rub marks on the surface of the mag that may indicate a high spot. Next, take the mag apart to see if any dirt or other stuff is inside causing the spring to bind. While you have the mag apart, check the inside surfaces to make sure there isn't a inward dent or rough spot that could cause the folower to hang up. Generally speaking, these things will cause a mag malfunction. Maby it has a weak spring or a rough follower. This is also a good excuse to buy a few more mags!

I'd send them back to the factory to get replacements rather than fixing them yourself. It's a handgun presumably for defensive purposes. Personally I'd hate to have it fail when it was needed most.

Second I'd stop using Wolf ammo, you can get Blazer at Wally World for about the same price, or cheaper. The only malfunctions my XD has ever experienced was when I had first bought it, and was using Wolf.
