Recoil, I was going to get a 9mm, My brother and I originally thought that recoil on a .45 acp would make for alot of recoil, but the dual springs seems to sedate the recoil characteristics alot... then again this is the only gun I've shot... I love it

Value. For the price, it would be very difficult to find a .45 ACP pistol with a better combination of accuracy, durability, and reliability than the XD.

There is not one thing ...

The feel of the grip. (Perfect angle, width.)
It's light weight. (This is my first poly framed pistol.)
When the plastic touches the skin in cold weather while wearing it concealed - it does not feel like "cold steel".
