Handled the new XD45 Compact today...

They had one at the gun show and I gotta tell ya, there is just not enough of a difference between it and the Service to get me excited. I wanted SA to cut the slide NOT the grip. I'll wait for the much anticipated/much-desired XD45 subcompanct - if and when.

Did it have the 10-rd or 13-rd mag in it? Did you get to try both?

Cheers! M2

Yep, both. If I didn't already have a Service, I'd have to think about it. No way however can I justify getting it and the Service. With the proper clothes especially in the winter, I have no problem concealing the Service model.

Keep in mind that, in general, it's easier to conceal a longer slide than it is to conceal a bigger grip, so the XD45Compact DOES make a lot of sense.

However, I agree that since I already have the XD45Service, I am not enticed into spending any more to get the Compact. I'd only do that if I didn't have either but was wanting to buy an XD45 at this point.

I agree, I have no problem concealing my Service model, even though I normally just wear shorts and a XL t-shirt (the joy of living in southcentral Texas). I normally wear a standard large t-shirt, but I like the looseness and length of XL's, plus I try to wear dark colored ones if possible to even better conceal any printing.

If I were in the market for a XD-45, I think I would have to seriously consider the compact; but I think I'll save my money for the Mil-spec M1911A1 I saw the other day. I am not even sure I wil pursue the XD-45SC when it comes out, as like I said, carrying the XD-45 4" is a piece of cake for me. Just to put it in perspective, I am 6'2" and ~190lbs...

Cheers! M2
