A few shell boxes later,

Took the new XD45 to the range Saturday. After 2 boxes of shells, I got used to it and started to dial in the shots. A few shell boxes later, I feel good about my purchase. But my hand was raw from the grip. Gotta get a slip-on grip. Like the gun.

Practice makes perfect. I had the same situation with getting dialed in. Took me a couple of sessions to really get comfortable with the .45. Now I have to burn a few more with the .40SC before the end of the month so I don't embarse myself in my CC class.

Thumbs up What I do at range

I have a pair of hatch shooting gloves and a weight lifters wrist support for my gun holding hand. This works good at range when doing around 200 rounds with the XD-45 Service. Also I have a little rubber finger thing office workers use when working with paper. It really makes loading my Mags. more finger friendly.

I just use the XDGear speed loader, which works just fine for me. Otherwise, if I'm going through 100 rounds, that mag lip just starts to shred by thumb.

Raw from the grip? Perhaps you are holding too tight. I usually grip medium with the hand on the gun and tighter with the opposite hand. I actualy find the grip of my XD Tactical very comfortable.

Shell = Shotgun. They make shooting gloves, they don't have fingers in them

The other hand is the Support hand or weak hand.

If your hand is raw you need to lighten up on your grip. No need for a death grip. Your support hand provides 60% of your grip and your strong hand provides 40%. Check out Scott Springer's Grip video at
