Exclamation Shot placement vs. Caliber

I've seen some "discussions" about caliber vs. shot placement in many forums that I've checked out but I think that this story might lay all arguments aside. Check it out. http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/....html

Yeah, JD.... That's the right one... Sorry for the bad link

The only thing that I found remotely relevant on CNN's site this morning was this: http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/americ....ap/index.html
although I cannot confirm that is what the OP was referring to.

If that wans't what the OP was about, it's still a good read though. Some things in life are just crazy, she must have had a thick skull.

You can't even begin a caliber-vs-placement argument until you have a real caliber. Slingshots and Daisy BB guns don't count.

Well, I'd be willing to bet that wouldn't happen with any real caliber / gun. We already know it was a small caliber, my guess is it was a small short barrel weapon that did not develop sufficient energy. I am pretty sure even a "lowly 9mm" would have gotten the effect he was looking for.

But just to be safe my primary welcoming committee for felonious guests is a 12 ga with 00 Buck, followed up by an XD45 ACP with 14 200 gr Gold Dot +p's.

My standard answer to 9mm being to small. Stand down range and let's see. 32 22 etc for defense? Not me. Oh and BTW I won't stand down range for those. Have you heard of the golden BB?
