Dryfiring your XD45

Newbie here - just picked up a 5" XD45 about a month ago. I have a Glock 19 which I dryfire quite a bit.

Is it okay to dry fire the XD or do I need to use caps?

Thanks

Everyone here says it is fine. I'm a little cautious, so I use snap caps in everything no matter what. That is just me though. Everyone else seems to do it without.

I have dry fired my XD9tac over 4000 times and shot over 3000 rounds through it with no problems.

I dry fire my XD's all the time. I use snap caps also but more for range use and flinching or reloading.

Ah, the power of numbers. I don't really think I'm going to worry about it now.

I'm like Broadside here. I use the Azooms snap caps for my 45 Tactical. For dryfire and flinch reduction. Im sure it is safe to dryfire without a snapcap though. I mean, you do have to pull the trigger for field stripping right?

What is 'flinch reduction'?

Using these caps must be of some benifit from the way it sounds.

You load them randomly in a mag with live rounds, so you wont know when it is coming. When you pull the trigger and it doesn't go boom, you can see if you move the gun, or flinch to anticipate the recoil.

You have to dry fire when you field strip the XD.
