Guide Rod
I have a XP45 Service with approx 300 Rds through it. No malfunctions of any kind so far. The guide rod is showing some unusual wear though. The very end of the spring(where it fits into the front of the receiver) is putting scratches in the rod. Not just wearing the finish off,but fairly deep scratches that you can feel with your fingertip. I`m thinking the spring has a burr on it or something.Anyone else have this problem, and how do you get the spring off the guide rod? Thanks
I would post pics but I`m not that good at the computer thing, sorry. Last edited by NMCB3 : 11-10-2006 at 08:08 AM. |

There is no good way to take the assembly apart, and if you could get it apart the problem then becomes keeping it together.
Work a piece of sandpaper under the spring end and then pull it out. Repeat as needed. This happened on my HS2000 assembly, and deburring the spring end stopped it. Last edited by Don : 11-10-2006 at 09:28 AM. |

Speaking of guide rods...
Are the guide rods for the 5" 9MM, 40, and 45 identical in size?
