Thanks everyone, I have been shooting in IDPA meets and found out tonight others have had trouble shooting mrw rounds. Something about
the way the mag construction. Again thanks for the welcome to the board and the great info. |

So it sounds like you've been buying someone else's reloads? If so that's a really bad idea. You have no idea of the quality control of the loader... and more importantly every gun is a little different. What works for them might not work for you, in fact its very likely it won't work for you. There is no perfect round for every gun. Even with factory ammo, there are some guns that just don't like certain brands of ammo... like Wolf for example.
Hand loading should be done by you for your specific gun and shooting style. That's why its such a painstaking process to find just the right load. If you want to get into reloading its a great way to be able to shoot more for less money and tweak in your loads for accuracy and consistency, but I would never recommend someone buy another person's handloaded ammo!

XD 45 and reloads
I found out that my xd 45 has a very short lead. If you load your rounds longer then you might have some problems with them going into battery, I did. I used 250 grain lead bullet and titegroup for a real soft feeling major load. I also loaded them a little shorter than normal. If anyone wants the OAL I will measure it as I can not remember it off the top of my head.

I use 200 grain RNFP cast bullets with 4.7 grains of Red dot. Never had a problem in the XD45, Sig 220, or Colt Mod 70 1911. Same applies for the Ruger and Taurus 45s I've had and traded.

XD 45 reloads
vbmenu_register("postmenu_327301", true); Novadesigns you are correct, I have been getting some reloads from a team member who shoots a Kimber. I ran a few rounds through my Rock
River 1911 and they were very smooth, then I bough a new XD 45 and ran some factory Winchester 230 gr round nose. The XD cycled fine and they talked me into trying some reloads, after trying them and having the problem I went back to the Winchesters. After reading the post here I am going to start loading my own so I can control what goes through my XD more closely. Thanks to all for the input. |
