My first stab at 200 gr SWC reloads
Well, I tried the 200 gr LSWC last weekend. Someone gave me 10 bullets to try. So I reloaded with 4.5 grains of Bullseye. I can't remeber the OAL off the top of my head, but I left a sliver of shoulder exposed.
I had two failure to feeds. One round did not eject properly (might have been too light) a load. And the other one did not feed correctly and put a big tear in the brass. My other 225 grain truncated lead bullets feed fine. I'm gonna try another go with a few LSWC bullets and play with different OAL |

I gotta get off my arse and put my reloading bench back together so I can so load development for my XD tac.
I found the my previously loaded 170pf 200gr swc loads would feed fine but not eject, even with a lighter recoil spring.

Reloading
Dsonyay,
Some thoughts for your next effort at 200-gr LSWC reloads: 1. Check a reloading table and go for mid-range powder charge. You might be right that your charges were too light. 2. Make sure you're crimping the bullet at the right OAL. Don't forget the crimp as otherwise the bullets in the magazine could shift during recoil. Don't give up on the LSWC because it's a great bullet. |

Reloads
I use 5.4 gr. of Hp38 or 231 with Bear Creek Moly 200 gr. with an OAL of 1.230 and have had NO problems.

And if the LSWC fail to feed, switch to RNFP 200 grain cast bullets. Never had a feed problem with them in any of my 45s.

Bear Creek Supply
I been using that same bullet in my 1911 for years. I ran out of them and tried some bare lead SWC I got locally. That was a disaster in my XD. Got to order some more when I run out of the 230 RN I have left. They work fine too at SAMMI spec OAL.
