Which .45 to get?
Greetings all,
After having my XD9SC for a few months now, I have decided to add to the XD family. I want a .45, but I can't decide between the compact, service, and tactical. I'm kinda leaning towards the service, but I dunno. Any opinions, with reasons to justify the opinion, would be appreciated! I will probably keep the 9SC as a daily carry, and have the .45 more for fun and bedside. Thanks! (Also, is there a significant ballistic difference between the 4 and 5 inch?)

If you're not gonna carry it, id handle both the service and the tactical, then decide which one you like. As for the ballistic difference, I must say I'm no expert on it, but I don't think you get much of a drop off between the two.

If the 45 is for fun and games plus Home get the tactical
AS I understand it the difference between the 4 and 5 inch is about 50 F/S ammo dependant. Quote:

Personal preference my man.
Best part is, you can't make a bad decision when deciding which XD45 to get. As long as it's a "real" 45.

Give in to your subconscious:
Get one of each! Then get a 1911, just so you can compare......

I got the Service and want a 1911 now. Whichever way you go you should be happy.

Hmm, I think I will go for the Service....kind of a compromise between the other two...Although the Compact looks nice. Arrg, decisions decisions. If I could afford it, I would get one of each!!

If you're not carrying, get the Tactical. A little longer for sight alignment, a tad heavier for better recoil control.
That being said, I have the service, which works both for carry and for IDPA competition. Really fun to shoot, stable as anything. I shoot this better than my XD9sc.
