Xd45 Tactical
Just got back from the range with my XD45 Tactical. It now has 5300 rounds through it. The more I use it the better it works. My gunsmith did a trigger job at 250 rounds. the trigger pull is 4lbs and very crisp. The XD is still my favorite firearm.

New XD tactical owner
I just recently purchased an S.A. XD tactical in .45 acp at the Tulsa arms show and have put about 150 rounds of hollow point and hardball thru it. I can't say enough about the way the weapon handles. It's a natural pointer, recoil is very tame, and I did pretty good for the first time out of the box and not having been to the range in a while. My only concern was that while the groups were tight I seemed to be shooting a tad low no matter what I did. I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed this or was it just first time jitters? I was also wondering if anyone had any good sources for holsters and other accessories for the XD tactical.

You know I always thought I wanted an XD Tactical 45 in BiTone, but since having gone to a range and fired both the Service and the Tactical, I might have to change my mind. The Tactical almost felt too topheavy...!
I definately need to re-test next time I'm at the range. Bieng a fan of "bigger" handguns I'm a little hesitant to change my sights from the Tac. to the Service without trying it again. Have either of you tried the service? What are your thoughts? -Peter |

I spent some time with a service model last weekend. It definately has less nose weight than the Tactical (which I own). The service is just a tad faster to the target from the holster but the tac is faster on follow-up shots.
Hey, if you want to experience a real nose-heavy feel try hanging a light on the XD tac.

Hi Y'all. I'm new here to this forum, but not to forums in general. I just recently picked up a XD45 ACP Tac. model in Drak Earth. I only put about 100 or so rounds through it, they were homeloads with mixed brass and 50 with HP-38 and 50 with Titegroup. By the time I got done taking my son back to his Ma's in Albuquerque and got to the unofficial range, it was dark. I shot the 1st hundred in the dark basically, at about 10 yards mostly freehand. Also, I had my TRL light attatched for most of the shooting. True, groups are not spectacular, but I was mainly just braeking it in with some homeloads and wanted to see how it would shoot with the TRL light on. Actually, the bottom right hand target was shot with the Titegroup loads and the light attatched freehand, not to mention a bit more attentiveness. I'll post more when I do more.

Chewybaca67 welcome to the forum. I grew up in Albuquerque and sure remember the "unofficial ranges". Back in the 60s I did a lot of shooting in Coyote Canyon which was off to the south of Tijeras Canyon east of town. Sometimes we went out to the west mesa. In those days you couldn't hit anything but rocks if you missed. The last time I was out that way I checked and all of my favorite shooting spots had houses on them. You must be driving a ways outside of Albuquerque to shoot now. Have a good one, John.
