They have been working on a model for the service model since the debut of the 45 ACP....apparently, from what they have told me, there is an inherent problem with the design of the 2 piece stock guide rod in th service, and more R&D is needed to overcome what they believe to be the weak link in the service model.

Yeah, thanks for the update, I hadn't heard that. I have been waiting for the LaserMax for the XD-45ACP, as I have tried one on a blue gun and was impressed with not only its range (especially considering it was inside a large bright convention center) but how easy it was to acquire the blinking laser target. I most definitely want to pick one of these up once they are out!
Cheers! M2

To volatile environment for a .45 ACP if you ask me. I question how they got the .40 S&W done honestly.
I too would like to get one that can last. I think a couple thousand rounds would ruin most lasers. The shock alone I think could off set all the focus and balance. Who knows, we will see. In the meantime I am going to have Springerprecision mount up some radioactive material! Foon |

I've had a LaserMax on my g36 (.45 ACP) for about 4 years now. Still solid as a rock. LaserMax even has replacement springs available.
Excellent battery life too. (really!!!) My 2 cents. Jon |
