help
ok first i love my xd 45 i have no problems with it but now.I reload my own rounds and here to say that i shoot at least a 1000 rounds throught the xd with no feeding or firing problem.I decided that i would not clean the xd to see how many rounds it would fire with out jamming a mounth ago.I had no problems with it feeding or going off after firing 200 rounds every sunday.Well its time to clean the old girl so i broke her down gave it a good cleaning and oiling.Well next week came by and i have misfires out the ass.The primers are hit but nothing goes off.Well like i say im a reloader so i think i have high primers.I re shoot the same rounds and bang they go off. What i was wondering is that as i clean my gun, i love oil and i did oil the hamer spring and all the guts.Do you all think this problem can happen or should i send the xd back to springfield to see if the firing pin spring is wore old. Thanks for your responce.

Did you clean out the firing pin tunnel by chance? Also are you using Winchester primers? I have read quite a bit on them being hard, Remington primers are even harder, but I doubt that is the problem.

oiling the XD
I suspect your correct.
Get a can of air and blow it out. just a very small drop on the fireing pin spring. in fact all I do is put some on my finger and rub it back and forth a couple of times. The XD doesn't require much in the way of lube it will just gum it up. A tiny drop on the lugs. a finger wipe on fireing pin and spring and a wipe on mating surface of the sear. I oil the barrel then wipe it with a dry rag. an oil dampened rag on the recoil spring usually the same rag I dried the barrel with. all that extra oil does is attract crud. Quote:

over lubed
Without pulling the slide apart, I would suggest you get a can of Carb cleaner or the like and blow it out. then get a can of compressed air from your local computer store and use the tube that comes with it a blow air into the hole in the breach face that the fireing pin comes out of. then use oil sparingly on the spring and fireing pin Like I said just pun a little on you finger and wipe the pin and spring. you do want to wipe that part of the pin that the sear mates with.
If it was me I would take the slide apart and give it a good cleaning. if your not comfortable with this or don't know how, take it to a gunsmith that does. Quote:

i can take the upper reciver off and barrel out but trying to get to the firing pin will be tricky.

If his primers are hit and not going off, what does oil have to do with it? someone please explain. I like a lot of oil and I never had a problem with ammo not firing

oil
If you get enough oil on the fireing pin it will collect crud. Get enough crud in there and you will get light strikes or no strikes at all
