From the XD-45 manual (pg 32):

Quote:

Point of Impact
Shooters may use a “point of aim” sight picture at 25 yards. This means that, at 25 yards the bullet should impact the target at the point visible at the top of the front sight. Shooters may also use a “6 o’clock” sight picture to strike the center of the target. Springfield Armory pistols are designed to use the “6 o’clock” sight picture at 25 yards. However, some pistols may shoot “point of aim” at 25 yards depending on shooter and ammunition.

Note: Use only clean, dry, original, high-quality,commercially manufactured ammunition.
I use POA, but that's what works for me...

Cheers! M2

Does anyone else think this must have been translated from Croatian? It's basically meaningless. "You may use a point of aim sight picture, but you may also use a 6 o'clock sight picture." Maybe they expect it to group so poorly that it shouldn't matter?

I think what they're trying to spit out is that it's different depending on the distance to the target.

I have always shot POI. I can't get used to the "pumpkin on a stick" 6 O'clock method. I dont' shoot alot at 25 yards anyways. It would help alot with the 6 O'clock method if all the tartets were the same though.

In reference to the diagram from the manual, I've personally found it to be somewhat frustrating in that there is no attempt made to define the radius of the ring in the "6 O'Clock" graphic.

That said, I shoot my guns using point of aim and the two XDs that still have factory sights (XD9 and XD45ACP Service) are rarely shot at targets 25 yards away. If I shot bullseye targets on a regular basis, I might choose to shoot "6 O'Clock" (with the "pumpkin on a post" description being very appropriate). Since I do not, there is no practical purpose in my mind for me to shoot "6 O'Clock".

Now I'm confused.
Since the XD comes with a non-adjustable sight how can you choose how to align the sights?
It's either POI or 6 o'clock.
Mine shoots POI at 25yds. .
I'd prefer that it shot an inch high at that range because I like to see where the bullet will strike.
Do the Heinie sights align at the 6 o'clock position on a XD Tact.?
If so how high?

Thanks,
nunnya

I'm used to shooting "6 o'clock", however I've found that I get better accuracy with my new XD Tactical shooting POA. When I shot the first 100 rounds through it last weekend, I did "6 o'clock" and found I was hitting a little low and left (sound familiar?). The next 100 rounds, I shot POA and was hitting a hair to the left and no longer low. Distance shot varied from 7 yards to 20 yards.

All my adjustable sighted comp guns I site them in at 6 O'clock, but with any 3 dot night sited guns I use POA. If you have ever shoot a night sited gun at night you can't make out the square part of the site so you have to use the dots. On my XD-45 w/ TFOas well as my other carryguns I with nite sights I use practice using just the dots even in day light.
