Why Next Day Air?
Why does SA, Springer, etc have to have stuff shipped Next Day Air. It never used to be that way.
Anybody know? Last edited by GunWolf; 10-19-2006 at 04:03 PM. |

That the law I guess with the ATF when you have hand gun ship unless you have a FFL . and some owner just dont like their guns sitting around when its in transit.

A nonlicensee may ship a firearm by a common or contract carrier to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun. In addition, Federal law requires that the carrier be notified that the shipment contains a firearm and prohibits common or contract carriers from requiring or causing any label to be placed on any package indicating that it contains a firearm.
[18 U.S.C. 922(a)(2)(A), 922(a) (3), 922(a)(5) and 922(e), 27 CFR 478.31 and 478.30] AND UPS and FedEx both require Next Day service (just go to their websites.) I think it is to prevent employee theft, but that may be an urban legand. |

No federal laws says firearms must be shipped by either ground or air transit. It's simply a company policy. |

It's ashame that some FEDEX and UPS Employees can't be trusted with firearms. I am sure there are only a small number of them - but one is too many. It's also ashame that FEDEX and UPS make the average firearms owner pay for the mistakes these companies made in hiring such theives. What about having a payroll deduction on all of these employees to cover loses caused by the Thieves. I am sure if this deduction would happen in a paycheck, the employees would force the companies to clam down and find the few.Any thoughts??

Firearms are a potential liability for them. Overnight is their most reliable and profitable way of shipping. It's a no-brainer...has nothing to do with employee theft.
