bought XD .45 instead of Glock

I was going to buy a Glock .45. I have owned a 9mm Glock model 19 for around fifteen years and it has performed flawlessly. Instead, I checked out the XD .45 at the store, liked it, and brought it home. VERY NICE. Easy to keep on target for multiple hits, %100 reliable. One problem, at 25 yards, I was low to the left around 6 inches. I thought it was the gun, ( it COULD'NT be me, I am the best shot IN THE WORLD!) So I did some dry fire drills, and I noticed that I was flinching down left. After some practice I got the groups on target around 3inches. I think some of the problem were the large grip and the top heavy feel of the weapon, also, my hands are small. Overall this gun is great. I like the grip saftety, steel trigger and sights ( Glock uses plastic) love the look, and 14 rounds of .45. I do not agree with the notion of: "If you can't take care of the problem with 6 rounds..." Way too many variables in defensive situations, in my opinion..........Thanks FS

Oh, just out of curiosity, what kind of dry fire drills did you do? Just dry fire and see how much the barrel dips? Or something special? This is something I probably need to do.

Xd 45

I just bought a XD 45 Service model in black. the pnly problem I'm seeing is the heavy trigger pull. ( 7.4 Lbs) Ok, it's heavy next to my 1991A1. it's a little rough but not bad. So, I'm thinking about a trigger job for Christmas. get it down to something like 4#

After i left the range last week i went home to do some dry fire drills. The majority of my shots were low right (I am a lefty). After observing, i was tipping the barrel low right as i was pulling the trigger. I now know that was my problem because i had nice 2-3in groups low right. They were just no where near the center It was my frist time shooting too so..

I try to dry fire in between my shots at the range, it gives me a better idea what I am doing wrong. Just unload and aim at the same target you have been firing at, and pull the trigger. I try to see where the point of aim ends up after the trigger is engaged. I am not sure if this weapon is safe to dry fire like a conventional .45, so I would'nt over do it.

I believe all are excellent (21, 30 or XD) tools. They all work.
