XD rail light
I'm looking at getting a light for my xd .45 for home protection. I was looking at this 1:
http://www.springfield-armory.com/prod-xdpstl-xml.shtml Does anyone have experience with this model? Is it a good choice? If not further guidance would be appreciated. Again, I have the xd .45 service model. Thanks! |

yeah, I have one. I like it. Haven't really had a chance to use it and I've never had any others, so I don't really have anything to compare it too. I like the switch on it though. One side turns it on until you let off, and the other side keeps it on. So, it's handy and it looks good. Other than that, I can't tell you much.

that helps, thanks. I think I may order it unless anyone has a better suggestion in the same price range.

I bought mine off of a fellow forum member. I don't remember seeing one in there right now, but you could do a WTB post for it. You never know, someone might have one lying around that they don't want anymore. That was the case with mine!

Streamlight TLR-1 can be had just for over $100 free shipping from most sites, some even giving 20 free batteries. It's an LED light which will put the light you are looking at to shame. Plus you don't have to worry about bulbs burning out, which the bulbs for the light you posted are quite costly. I have a TLR-1 and wouldn't have it any other way. I don't know the exact distance the light is shining, but I'm going to say it's close to 40-50 yards. The whiter light of the LED is much better than the yellowish light of normal lights. I've got a few nice surefire lights which put out a lot of light, but I just feel the LED lights things up much clearer. The light is rated at up to 80 or 90 lumens, it's pretty bright. Unlike some LED lights that use a projector type lense, this one doesn't and it allows it to cast a lot of side light, instead of a narrow circle of bright light then lots of dark surrounding it.
I purchased mine from http://www.botac.com/sttrtali.html and others have too. I've since learned several have gotten 20 batteries free, on top of free shipping, and some have even received free pepper spray. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Holy cow. Yeah, that looks alot better than my XML. I'd go with that. Anyone want to buy a gently used XML?
