Smile Closer does help

My range monkies won't allow the targets closer then 15 yards. but the last time I was there I pulled my target back to about 8 yards and my groups impoved a lot It took me by surprise.

I bought my XX45 service a couple of weeks ago. I took it out last Friday and it is a keeper. Very accurate for me...I couldn't be happier with a 45 pistol that shoots this well PLUS it holds 14 rounds. It's tough to carry, but I'll deal with it.

Thanks all for your replies. I started at 50 feet because that is where the target board is located. My range has shooting benches set up on concrete so I was using that as a starting point. I will move up to see if the accuracy improves. I will also watch the video that happygunner mentioned. And of course practice, practice, practice. I want to take the CCW course on Oct. 21 so I need to get better.

On page 32 of the XD Operation and Safety Manual there is reference to Point of Aim at 25 yards. The book says "..Springfield Armory pistols are designed to use the "6 o'clock" sight picture at 25 yards. However, some pitsols may shoot "point of aim" at 25 yards depending on shooter and ammunition." I figured since it mentioned 25 yards in the manual, that I wouldn't have any problem with 50 feet.

I should also make a correction to my initial post. The shot group by the other individual was low and to the right not left and he was using the "point of aim" sight picture. My group, once I raised my gun up, was pretty much in the center of the target and I was using the "6 o'clock" sight picture with the top of the paper along the top of my sights. Sorry for the confusion or inconvenience this may cause.
