Hey welcome! A fellow Texan and in North Texas to boot! I love my Glock 21,19,26. But heard lots of great things about the XD do I decided to give the XD a try and got a XD9 Tactical a few days ago. Havent had the chance to shoot it yet but I liked it some much I bought a XD45 Tactical with the DE frame tonight for my pack.

Hey congrats on the XD45 Tactical.
To answer you question about the sights you can get TruGlo Tritium Fiber Optic Sights from a forum sponsor ajamesp51 and he will install them free. https://www.shop.xd-hs2000.com/displ...&categoryId=13 And you only have to send your slide not the whole gun. That's where I'm going to get mine. Everyone recommends not trying to install sights yourself without a special $400.00 tool. I have a buddy that has these sights on his Glock and they are fantastic! Unbelievable in low light conditions. I don't know how they handle on a carry gun but for a range gun they are the ticket!

i think these are FO's if not you get the idea they look the same side veiw green rear red front
![]() some more eye candy these are orange/yellow rear and green front ![]() ![]() this is the second gun at night ![]() again you are correct as you can see the FO (in this case TFO's) use the ambiant light and channel that to the dot. edit: incase you couldn't tell the dots are only fuzzy because of camera focus. |

I know double posting is a no-no, but I just made my trip to the range today and put my 600th round through the XD and decided to call it a day. The barrel was a little toasty, expected when you put close to 400 rounds through it in about 1 1/2 hours. I could have gone faster but I was helping a couple first-time handgun shooters along today with the meager knowledge I have obtained on my own so far.
I tried out eye dominance skill-building today, and I've found that even though I can shoot fairly well through my right eye, since I am cross-eye dominant (I shoot handguns right-handed and left-eyed) whenever I am aiming right-eye with both eyes open I feel as though I've gone crosseyed, like my eye is attempting to sight through the left sight even though it's off-center. The result is me looking completely past the gun as I fire and watching to see whether or not I made a hole in the paper, and failing to focus on the front sight. It's really hit or miss so far. I'm pretty sure that I'm what you would call a ****ty shot. Or perhaps I just have my good days and bad days. Either way, I learned a lot today, one being that I wasn't even holding the gun tight enough. After it flipped out of my grip a couple times, I tightened down much harder and put three consecutive rounds in the head of a silouhette target at 10 yards in about 5 seconds, roughly an inch from each other. The problem is after too much tight grippage I get the shakes again. Hopefully it will get better with frequent visits to the range. I also tried shooting strong- and weak-armed, right- and left-eyed respectively for both. It's an exercise in futility, for the most part. I have too many bad habits at this point to even be worried about shooting one-handed practically. I followed the manual on breaking down and cleaning (wearing eye protection the whole time, particularly for spring dis/reassembly), and after a few good cycles of the action and chambering a round a couple times I decided the gun is definitely good to go, and it's not going to blow up in my face the next time I pull the trigger There were a couple random strangers, guys in their late 30s or so, next to me shooting some Smith & Wesson compact .40 cals, and we got to talking about each others guns so I let one of them put a mag through the XD45. I watched him hit bullseye over and over, despite not being able to hit a house with his little .40 cal, and snickered a little with a certain inner pride |

well i few last things, for your grip read this thread
so im considering trading the xd40 also i like to consider scott springer the grip expert look up some of his old post or send a message to him, the best person you could ever come into contact with also i know your smart however just make sure to get into the habit of when stripping the gun, 1. release mag, 2. rack slide full back then release (clearning in case one is in the pipe, a couple have skipped this step and have holes in windows doors and a hand) then pull trigger always in safe direction and proced as normal. |
