.45 ACP & Clipdraw

Is anyone using a clipdraw on their XD45? Is anyone using a clipdraw, period?

How does it work for you?

Thanks in advance...

I just bought 2 of them but haven't put them on yet.

I am waiting for my 9SC to arrive for my carry

I went ahead and purchased one before getting any feedback. If I don't like it, I'll put it in the drawer with my "holster collection".

i have three...one for my xd9sc,xd9service,and one for my s&w 640...i like the convenience for running to the store and quick errands...but long use puts to much sweat on the gun and parts...i keep them on only because they do interfere with using regular holsters...YMMV...chris

I use a clip draw on my XD9SC and have positioned it so my belt covers the trigger guard. I typically wear it OWB between my belt and clothing. It is by far my favorite holster type of item for CCW I have found for my body type.

Heres just a quick look at where the clipdraw sits on the gun where my belt blocks the trigger guard.

Your not afraid of the gun going off while your putting it in your waistband? Scary to think of the trigger not having something covering it.

Putting the gun in your "waistband" is the same as putting it in a holster. If you keep your finger out of the trigger guard and pay attention all is ok. Not to mention the XD line has a redundant safety. Iv read all the posts about how people think the clipdraw is unsafe and have to say I almost didn't try it. What I have discovered is that the clipdraw is every bit as safe if you know how to handle your fire arm correctly including Keeping your finger out of the trigger guard until you are ready to fire.

i would consider one of these however doesnt it get annoying having the clip on the slide all the time?? i imagine this would be a hassel (also kindof ugly) to keep on the pistol all the time. Is there a way to make it easily removable??

It can be removed in a couple of min. with out issue by taking out the 2 screws. The clipdraw that is used for XD's is the universal version that is not permanent and can be completely removed at any time with out any affect to the slide. To be honest you get used to it being there. At first I noticed it every time I chambered my first round but dont even notice it there anymore. As for looks.....Yea I'll give ya that one, it does look less attractive vs. the bare slide. But really the clip draw is more function then form IMO.

Can’t really tell on the pic, but how do you install it on the slide?
