Believe it or not, it takes time and is costly to make parts. Take an injection mold for example. It can cost $15k to make a decent tool to spit out parts that retail for $10. At $5 each, you need to sell 3000 units to break even. Guide Rods seem easy, however the spring is the tough part. The XD Guide Rod is so fat that there seems to be few springs that fit it. Word on the street is that Wolff is working on a rod and spring combo; we'll have to see where that goes.
Beyond that, the XD45ACP was intended to be a duty weapon and for this reason, many are slow to create things like guide rods, mag wells, etc. Once SA manages a way to put a 9mm or a 40 slide on the XD45ACP frame, that will all change. For now, enjoy your gun for what it is. Don't buy a gun for what you want it to become. If you want a race gun, the XD45ACP is not a good choice. If you want a reliable shooter at a more-than-fair price, the XD45ACP is an excellent option. OS

It's certainly your right not to want to own a new gun for which after market parts have yet to become widely available, emphasis on the yet. But there's certainly no reason to be trolling in a forum for that gun. Nor is it a problem with the gun, as you have tried to imply.

...you're starting to sound like a Glocksucker....did I say I was leaving tick? I still have one XD left, so I think I'll stick around and see how much lead you can tolerate from all those pencils you have been chomping on. |

Continue to wonder young man....

The XD line, 45 included, is a fine weapon platform, but there is room for improvement, given the hundreds of concerns (do a search bud) regarding the platform and Springfield Armory policies. You're not preaching to any choir, son....you're posing for other like minded lead suckers who get their pencils in a wad when there is the remotest perception that their beloved XD is being dissed...for a moment, I thought I was on Glock Talk, given some of the babble being spit my way. Oh, and before I forget, I believe the insults you allude to began long before this post. Last edited by Dustoff '68 : 09-20-2006 at 01:53 PM. |

Six of the seven "problems" you listed are specifically related to the fact that the gun is so new. You have yet to respond intelligently to that at all. Rather you started the insults rather than address the fact that you are ignorant of the reality of the aftermarket parts situation.
And again, why are you so concerned about a gun that you no longer own? Why carry on and whine about it? In the thread on the guy losing his slide you jumped to the conclusion that he has not received support from SA on this then announced your intention to sell your XDs. Then you started this thread in what appears to be a pathetic attempt to justify your irrational decision. You should have researched your purchase more. Don't blame Springfield that the "New for '06" XD 45ACP doesn't have a lot of aftermarket support yet. Well at least you have slightly improved your font. To bad you had to resort to such childish insults. Seriously, if you don't like this forum, leave. In the months that I've been a member I haven't seen to much immature behavior, and I think the whining comments made to you were well justified. People aren't getting defensive, they just don't want to see you complaining about something that is beyond Springfield's control and has no bearing whatsoever on the quality of the gun. By the way, I'm not your, nor am I your son. You should stop jumping to such conclusions. Your obvious lack of maturity certainly implies you are a good bit younger than me. Of course, your posts make me wonder if your even old enough to legally own a gun...

It's the same thing with new car models and new engines. You will have to wait around a couple of years for adequate aftermarket support for the application.
That being said, I am quite happy with the mods done to my XD45 Tactical.

And again...

I respond to another genius, who if he had read my posts very carefully, would have discovered that I still have ONE XD left, and it will be a keeper.....it's a b!tch when one gets back what one dishes out, and we can keep up this game of the "dozens" for as long as you wish, so long as you continue to display YOUR immaturity...get over it son...I said my piece, and you wish to disrupt the peace...you wish to parse my words, and read that which allows you to continue to be defensive, than that's your problem...and, yes, I am quite sure I am a lot older than you, kid. |

So basically you started a thread saying the XD has problems, when in fact ti doesn't haven't problems rather and it's just a matter of the aftermarket catching up, in the hopes of getting people riled up. Why?
