Thumbs down FTF??? New gun???

Hi,

Took my NEW XD to the range for the second time today, 125 rounds over lunch. Using new OEM mags, factory loaded FMJ ammo, 230g had 4 FTFeed and 1 FTE between two magazines, not a confidence builder. Gun has a total of 275 rounds through it.

The rounds seemed to hang up just before the feed ramp. The ejection issue was a single round (trying to steady up my aim), got caught in the ejector pin it seems like. A slight pull back on the slide and both the ammo fed and the round dropped clear.

Gun/mag's were clean before shooting, using FIOOCHI (sp?) ammo. Maybe not enough oil in the right spots?

And boy, I'm finding that it takes forever to get that trigger to catch and release. Is the travel release/pressure something Canyon Creek can fix/adjust?

On a GOOD note - thanks for the advice everyone gave me on my shooting. Slowed down and let the trigger break during a smooth motion and the round is almost on target now. I'm still trying to figure out the aimpoint for this gun - another few hundred rounds at the range should help!

TIA

I had a few FTEs when the gun was new. After maybe 500 rounds, it has been totally error free. I'm over 7,000 rounds now.

These two are the mags that came with the gun. The first 150 rounds were no problem. Third mag I have is the OEM that is sold from SA. A three are SS.

Thanks.

Break-in is my first hunch, just the feed issue kind of bugged me. Wonder if it may have been the ammo.

I put 500 rounds of Winchester 45Auto(Wal-Mart $20.98/100 Rd. Box)through my brand new XD45ACP yesterday and it was flawless. Not one issue. Really pleased with it. Can't wait to get back to the range.

Well I can't say its the ammo in the XD but I shot some Fiocchi 45 acp ball in a S&W 4566 and it seemed to ftf (4 or 5 in 50) more that in should, WWB no problems, HP's no problem, all other ammo no problem,

Fiocchi 9mm and 9mm mak is good ammo but for some reason that 45acp box was not very good in that gun...

Maybe its the ammo...try others, I have had no problems with my XD45

Thanks. I think I'm going to lean towards the ammo as being the culprit. The first couple hundred rounds went through fine with a different ammo. No more Fiocchi for my girl.

Also noticed that the Fiocchi was a dirtier powder/load then Federal or other brand I was using. Cleaned the gun last night and man it was nasty.

I'm still only just over 200 rds, using the Winchester 230gr FMJ from Walmart, as stated, and some Blazer Brass 230gr FMJ also from Walmart....

Have not had a problem yet with feeding or ejection.
