My local gunshop has both the Service and Tactical 45acp in stock. The service is about $530 and the Tactical is about $550. After reading some past threads I think i'm going to go for the Tactical. I'm hoping to go in and look at it at luch today. Is that a good price, or should I talk them into throwing in a free extra magazine.

Or if you want to talk me out of the tactical and into the service please give me reasons why.

That sounds like a fair price to me. What I learned is that pricing on firearms depends on location. If you live in a place where there are many shops that move a lot of inventory, you will probably get a low price.

Here in NJ there aren't many gun shops and they don't do a ton of sales (compared to the shops in PA) so the prices are a little closer to MSRP. I called three local shops for prices on the XD-45: $515, $540, and $565. I ended up getting it at the shop selling it for $540 because sales tax was only 3.5% there (and the place selling it for $515 didn't have any in stock, I would have had to wait another month for them to get more).

I ended up getting the service because I liked the way it fit in my hand. I recommend you handle both and see what you like. From what I understand, the tactical isn't much more accurate.

Funny how these "bargain" XDs are now more expensive than Glocks!

I got my XD-45 Service for $459+tax and saw they Tactical for $503+tax. You can possibly do better. Shop around and then at least ask if they'll pricematch.

Well, I did it. I got an XD45ACP Tactical. I was wrong about the price, it was originally $565 and I talked him down to $550 and and got an extra mag for $24. So I'm a happy new XD owner! Now to find the time to get out to the range.

didn't buy it from the pawn shop in Virginia Beach....nobody likes those guys...A&P Arms sells them for $495.00
