Hello
Hello to all of you. I have been reading many of your posts lately and I think I will be able to find a lot of answers to my many questions here.
Last week when my neighbor and I was at the range, I meet a Deputy who was breaking in his new XD 45 Tactical and after an hour of serious drooling over his new pistol, he let me run a magazine through it. I was shocked, the recoil and muzzle flip was nothing compared to my G22 and 7 out of 13 shots were touching at ten yards, and I was shooting as fast as I would in my IDPA matches. My neighbor looked at me and said “Buy one!” I had been shooting my Glock for almost two years and for some reason it just never worked for me. I love the glock and I think it is a great weapon but if you can’t hit anything with it, than it is useless. I sold it and a shotgun and went and bought one to day, a stainless 45 tactical. I really didn’t think I whole like the stainless, but when I saw it I really liked it. Besides after three days of calling every gun store in Iowa I only found two tactical, and if I don’t like it I will have it duro-coated. So the one question I have today for anyone who owns a stainless XD. Do you find it hard to see the sights on top of a stainless rail? I was worried about losing in bright light is there was a glare on the rail. |

Welcome. As far as the glare goes the XD's stainless finish is fairly matted down and doesn't glare at all for me. I was shooting my friends XD40ser with the SS slide and I found that it was just like shooting my stainless Kimber. There was no perceptable glare. If you are worried about it you can have the top of the slide blackened in one of the many painted on type finishes. I have seen this done and it look very nice.

I bought a stainless XD45 tactical and I really like it. As for the sights I think the contrast between the stainless steel and the black sights helps me locate and fix on them easier.
