Can FTE Damage any part of gun?
Newbie question.
I racked the slide back to remove a live round from the chamber to clean my gun and it got hung up in the slide and did not full eject. Does this type of thing cause any damage?? The round came out once i pulled the slide back again. My guess is the brass and lead that make up the bullet is much softer than the slide and slide parts. How tuff is this gun and what can I do to damage it?? Thanks guys!!

Was this a handloaded lead bullet? Did the extractor claw slip off the rim of case? Check the extractor claw for any sign of damage.

The round was WWB personnal protection 230 grain. I loaded it from the mag. Not exacty sure what caused the FTE. I looked at the extractor and I did not see anything strange, but then again I'm not sure what it looked like before this happened.

I have a lot of that same Ammo. I have not shot a lot of it it's just some more Ammo. I keep around because it's Americam Mfg. from a company that has been making Ammo. for years at a fair price.
I use their W.W.box Ammo. at range only. I carry with Rem.Golden Saber. but it's pretty costly to just shoot for fun. with the price of all Ammo. going up the Win.P.P. Ammo. fits in at costing around $18 a box of 50. And I have never had a failure shooting it so far. I will start shooting more and watching it closer. Your problem happened when ejecting a live round correct? Maybe you just pulled the slide back a little slow. Also if you still have the round that failed to eject I would think about contacting Winchester and see if they might look into the problem. Just a thought. |

Sorry for the delayed reply.
