XD 45 Service shoots way low and to the left?

I have a 4" xd45 and its shoots way low at 15 yards and way to the left.
we were using the round targets that show were you hit with that bright spot and my son in law and I had to hold to the numbers on the right to get close to center. and it shot real low also. how to fix? Thanks for you help we also were using WWB AND rEMINGTON 230 GR HP TTHEY SALE AT Wal mart in the 100 round boxes.

No offense, and assuming you are both righ-handed, I would say you are pulling the gun. The best thing to do is shoot from a bench-rest and see if you are still low and left. In most cases, the shooter is pulling the shoot and the gun is fine. As they say, it not the bow nor arrow, but the Indian.

I agree, low-left for a right handed shooter is usually too much trigger finger pressure. There are shooter's targets which show this on other forum posts. Just run a search. Of course, assuming that the sights are not off, which can happen.

I second that you're pulling the gun. I tried dry firing mine and saw that I was indeed twitching it off target when pulling the trigger. Takes some practice to get over it.

Always assume it's the shooter until the firearm is benched and fired... If you aim the gun, strap it to the bench and fire it, you may find it's right on... Dry fireing with a laser works well too.

You're jerking the trigger. See here:

I too have that problem. I'm a green horn when it comes to handguns.

When trying to shoot a playcard sideways, my instructor told me I was both pulling and anticipating the recoil. After some coaching I was able to split the card. He said the best cure is to practice both dry and at the range. He said to seriously work on practicing at the range and not just blow a bunch of ammo, and to stop for the day if my aim got worse with subsequent shots.

I carry my XD45 ACP Tactical, in a SuperTuck from CB. Very comfortable, easy to hide, easy to draw, and easy to reholster.

Looking for an HDR*, either an AR-180B, or Kel-Tec FBR.

I had the same problem with a new XD-45. See my post about it:
Shooting Low

The first time I shot it nearly every shot was about 10-12" low (though not necessarily to the left). My brother took my XD out later that day and complained of the same thing. I thought it was my gun too until I took it to an indoor range and put a few more rounds through it.

Do you have experience shooting an autoloading pistol? My first time out with the XD was disappointing because with my .357 revolver I can get tight groups, but my XD was way low. After some practice during a single range session, I'm used to the feeling of my XD and most of my shots are much better. I guess I was more used to shooting a revolver (so is my brother) and the XD is a new feeling.
