XD 45 slide jam problem ?

Just purchsed an XD 45 tac. I am very happy with the weapon. Have almost 200 rounds down range, no problems. Was reading here on the forums about the slide jam/lock up problem. Is this a fluke, only involving some guns? Is there a recall? Is SA aware of this problem? Is there a fix or replacement part?

I want the dx 45 tac to eventually become my carry pistol. , but with this problem, I am uneasy to carry it. I am I over reacting, or is this problem a major concern?

Are you referring to the posts where someone will say that thier slide will lock back while the are firing the gun ( as in the slide release catches and holds the slide back)????

NO, I am refering to the guide rod moving off center, and locking the gun up.

Problem with my XD45ACP - jambed 1/2 way open update

I am one of the guys that had it happen to me first, as far as the slide getting jambed open. I don't recall it happening while anyone was shooting, it happens after you have reassembled the gun, and as far as I know, it's only been the service model that has problems.

What happens is the guide rod gets slightly off center where it rests on the locking block, thus jambing up the gun. It is something that can be fixed by you easily.

The way to avoid it is to test the gun by dry firing it after reassembling it, this is when it will happen. If it doesn't happen, you put the guide rod in perfectly. Since my first problem with this, I have not had any more problems with it at all. I just take the time to make certain the rod is centered by using my fingers , this takes about 5 seconds and can be done by touch only.

Hoe this answers your question and concerns.
