Just bought a new XD45ACP bi-tone yesterday from gander mountain, everything was great got the weapon home pull it out to give it a little oil love and boom i see this scratch down the left side of the slide, almost where the slide release level is located. the scratch runs down the whole left side of the slide with a nasty bur in the middle. with further inspection i see there is no way the slide release lever could have made the scratch since its not even close to it and there are no rub marks on the lever itself.
so i called gander montain explained the situation and was told i must have scratched it while in transport from their store. now im pissed, i havent even opened the case let alone fire the weapon before i found the scratch. i understand its just a weapon , but damn! $640.00 of my hard earned cash for a weapon that looks awfull. i guess it wouldn't be so bad if it didn't have a bur that might catch my thumb while firing. i sent a email to SA hopefully they can help me out. Haul that thing back there, find the store manager and raise Holly HE11!!!!!
That is total BS and I bet when the store owner finds out what his employees said he will not be too happy Chris

Be firm, but do not explode on them. When one guy says there is nothing he can do, ask for his boss. If you get the same thing, ask for his boss. Keep on going all the way to the General Manager. If that doesn't work, ask them for a contact at Corporate. Hopefully, somebody will take care of you. Just don't fire it until you have exhausted your options.

Did you break it down at the store when you picked it up? Did you break it down when you got home? I am guessing that it was scratched by the take down lever. If it is not vertical, it will scratch the slide very easily. Is the scratch along the length of the slide? How long is the scratch?

i checked the take down lever and there is almost 1/8 inch of clearance with the slide in any postion. yes the scratch looks to be a slide lever scratch, however there is no rubing on the slide lever to indicate it came in contact with the slide as well as the scratch being almost a 1/16" higher then the highest point on the slide lever.
i will post pics in the morning, been a long day UPDATE: after talking with a manager, i was told to bring the gun in and have the smith check it out and send it to SA for a refinish. the nice thing he did say is "well take care of it for ya" and being a retail manager myself i know how open end these answers can be if the customer pushes correctly. i called talked to the manager explained the situation, and how i don't think anyone at the store did "even thou i do" and it might be a factory defect and was very helpfull well see what happens on monday LINK TO PICS http://mysite.verizon.net/res1cfwy/xdpics2/ Last edited by XD40SC4LIFE : 08-20-2006 at 10:57 AM. |
