XD .45 vs. G 21 .45...

Hello all! I am new to the XD forums and have a question! I spend a lot of my time on another forum site called glocktalk, mainly because I own several Glocks. I have one dilemma; I can’t decide which .45 caliber pistol to get! I have narrowed it down between two pistols, the Glock 21 or the XD .45! I have posted this same question on both sites hoping to get positive and negative feedback about the pistols. I was surprised at a lot of the replies on the glocktalk forums, I thought everyone would be bashing the XD but I was wrong many people had good words about it! I would like to hear more about everyone’s experiences with the XD 45.

Thank you in advance,

-Sinister

Welcome to the forum! This was discussed a good bit when the XD45 came out 8 months ago. Run a search on the forum for "G21", you'll find lots of comments.

I had a G21, my first .45ACP, and liked it, however the grip angle is all wrong for me and when the XD45 came out, that settled the question. The XD45 grip is much better for me (more like a 1911 or CZ grip) and is much slimmer than the G21. Whatever feels best in your hands, I would say.

I owned a Glock 21 and a Glock 21C and neither ever felt quite right in my hand, but I carried them for a year or so. Then I purchased my first XD, a 40 and fell in love with the 'pointablility' of the gun. When the XD45 came out, I purchased one, knowing if I didn't like it I could get my money out of it quickly.

Well, I've now sold my 21 and 21C, so you know what my thoughts are.

I would suggest that you rent or borrow one and go to the range. Since you're so familiar with Glocks, it shouldn't take too many shots for you to make up your mind.

FYI, I've also replaced my 27 with an XD40SC and my 23 with an XD40S.

Good luck with your decision.

Welcome to the "good side." Nah, j/k... I had two Glocks for several years, a G27 and a G23 (obviously a .40 cal fan.) Needless to say, they were both traded the day I got my XD-40. No regrets here, wouldnt trade my XD for any other pistol today. Springfield took everything Glock did right, many years ago I might add, and improved and added even more good aspects to it. Unless something serious happens, I will not buy another Glock... not as long as there are XD's on the shelf... as the old saying goes, "Why settle for less?" Hope you make the right choice for YOU, I know I did. Thanks for listening.

G21vsxd45

I have owned a G21 great gun but I reload and shooting lead thru a glock is a no no xd.45 no problem.I own a G17&G34 great guns I have Dawson fiber optic front and adjustablr rears on both of them.Factory sights on glocks I can't hit squat the xd on the other hand is point of aim right out of the box.Lastly the grip on the xd feels better to me than the glock because it is smaller thus easier to carry. Hope this helps.
