Black Mags for XD 45 Service Model (13 round)?

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum. I've had my XD 45 for just over a month or so and so far I've only used the two factory mags that came with it. I need to buy some more, but I figured if I was going to do so I was going to get some non-reflective black magazines. After looking for them, I can't seem to find any anywhere. I saw that pro-mag makes them for the 9mm and the 40 s&w, but no love the the .45 ACP. If anyone knows where to buy some could you let me know. Or if anyone just knows a good way to make the makes black yourself without sacrificing reliability, could you leave instructions on how to do so. Thanks.

There are a couple of companies that apply a black ion-bonding coating to mags.

What 5L1mm said. I've heard plenty of bad things about Promags, so you may want to avoid them period.

If you're concerned about them being visible or reflective and giving a position away, you might want to look to a covered pouch that prevents them from gleaming.

The mags are not chrome, they are stainless steel.

I avoid ALL after market mags that are not 100% proven. I don't care for the bright polished look, so strip the mag & then dip them in pool acid for a few minutes, rinse in hot water w/ baking soda & you have a nice matte finish mag that doesn't blind you when doing a reload!

I have some of the older, (2002ish) 10rd XD40 chromed mags, and yes they are chromed mags. Do your think this process would work on them as well to dull them down?

I don't know how it will affect chrome plating. Are you sure they are plated?

"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks." -Thomas Jefferson
