Gun Shop recommended American Eagle
I have been doing a lot of reading on the boards about 45acp ammo and from what i have read... Speer Gold Dots,Blazer Brass & Lawman, Fedaral Hydra Shocks, Hornandy, and Rem. UMC are all great ammo. I have not really read too much about Federal American Eagle. Anyone have any experience with these? Out of all that i have listed, which brand is the best quality?
Thanks.

Gold Dots, Golden Sabers, Hydra-Shoks etc. are Hollowpoint self-defense ammo. You could use them for plinking, but it would get expensive.

I've put around 300 rouns of Federal American Eagle through my XD-45 without a single fault. I also use it in my 1954 Col .357 Magnum and my Taraus .38 Special. It comes highly recommended by the place where I bought my Springfield. However, for home protection, I load up Federal low-grain (165) JHP hydro-shocks...

Fed american eagle is range ammo.. I wouldnt have it loaded in my gun for home-defense or as carry ammo. It is a great ammo but just for range use in my opinion.

For range use and plinking, American Eagle is great stuff... Got a good deal from Natchez, and I think it burns cleaner than most of the other range ammos (definitely cleaner than CCI Blazer

American Eagle runs great in my .45, but it's usually a couple of dollars more per box then the others, which adds up when you shoot a lot.

Seems Natchez raised their prices on AE. But they do have CCI Blazer for under $9 a box.
