I went through this with my XD45. It Shot to the left and a little low. After hundreds of rounds I installed a set of Dawson fiber optic adjustable sights. I moved the sight right and a little up and the last group I shot at the indooe range was approx. one inch group at 25 feet. It made all the difference. Good luck.

I've shot for years and am pretty good with a pistol so I don't believe that it's me. I'm giving my new XD to a friend for him to shoot. If he has the same problem, I'll take it to a smith.

For the guy wo's XD shoots low/left. Again, like the others said, double check to make sure it is the gun and not technique.

I checked mine by letting two other experienced shooters try mine and just as low but not as left as me. Then I used a laser bore sighter and confirmed that the gun was low and slightly left.

If it is the gun, then Springfield can send you a higher sight. Check to see if it has a "G" or "H" stamped on the rear sight. If it's a "G" then they will gladly ship you an "H".

There's posts on removing and installing the rear sight. Some people have had problems getting it out and some have come out easily.

I had someone shoot it yesterday and it performed the same way. I'll be taking it in today/tomorrow. I understand from other post on the forums that this occasionally happens.

One of the easiest ways to check the sights is to get a laser boresighter. I have one which will fit anything from a .17 to .50 and only cost about $40. I've used it to check all my handguns. Also good for sighting in a red dot sight though it can be hard to distinguish between the two dots when they get really close.

Took my XD 45 in to the smith today. He showed me how the front sight was crooked. Said it was dropped or hit on something (the price you pay getting a used gun). Anyway, I'm taking it back in on Thursday to get a new front sight put on. Should solve the problem.

I've been shooting handguns for a long time.
When I bought my XD .40 Service, I was constantly shooting RIGHT (I'm right handed) with it.

The sights being off was the last thing I thought of.
I had my friend shoot it, he was dead center.
Finally I realized I was pressing in with my thumbs because the recoil was so much snappier than I was used to.

You? Your sights are off!
