Hot trigger on XD45

I took my XD45 to the range for the second time last evening and ran 200 rounds (now 500 total) through it. I am really impressed with this pistol! No feeding problems and the very mild muzzle flip allows you to quickly reacquire the target.

I did find one irregularity however. After about 100 rounds the trigger gets REALLY hot. Granted it is hot here in Phoenix, but this has occurred on both trips to the range (one inside and the other outside). This has not happened with either my XD-40 Tactical or XD-9 SC. Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon? Any thoughts on what might cause this?

I have never noticed it on mine, but I will pay closer attention next time I go to the range.

How fast did you put those 100 rounds through it?

My XD9 trigger seems to get hot faster than my XD45. Maybe because I shoot at a faster rate with my XD9. Typically after 150-200, it gets hard to keep my finger on the trigger due to the heat.

Happens on my XD9 but not my XD45. I just blame it on how much faster I shoot the XD9 compared to the XD45. I usually go through a magazine in about 20-30 seconds if not faster.

About 15 seconds per mag. shooting speed. I have two mags to reload in between.

Heat displacement is something I've noticed on my XD 45 ACP Service model, but not at 100 rounds. At 100 rounds typically the M6 light is 100% covered with WWB, MAgtecha dn remington.

Heat build up is around 200 rounds.

I haven't experienced my trigger on my XD-45 Tac get hot like that. I also definately don't shoot that many rounds that fast. Honestly, I can't afford to shoot rounds that fast in a .45, lol. I personally like to spend at least an hour or hour and a half at the range, so at that rate of fire I wouldn't be there very long, since I shoot about 200 rounds of .45 per trip (more on my .22 and other pistols). I would say that if you're shooting rounds that quickly through your .45, it would be pretty normal for it to get burning hot after 100 rounds. I've never fired that many rounds that fast through any other brand of pistol either. Do you have some other pistols brands that don't get as hot when you shoot at the same rate of fire?

I have shot my XD-9 SC at the same rate with 3 - 16 round mags in a row. Also my Beretta 92 with 6 - 15 round mags. This is the first time I have ever noticed a hot trigger on any pistol. Unfortunately for my ammo budget, this XD-45 just loves to shoot!

I have felt a little heat on my trigger also. I noticed it after 150 or so rounds. It wasnt unbarable. I usually keep my slide open after every magazine for around 5 minutes or so. Thats only if I dont feel as trigger happy that day. It usually cools pretty fast.
