Canyon Creek 45acp Tactical Production Ready or similar customs
http://www.canyoncreekcustom.com/Production_Ready.html
Has anyone in this forum bought one of these or have a custom tactical from springfield or other gun smith with similar features. I have no doubts based on other threads of Rich's smithing abilities but rather have to justify the cost in my head. I want a 45acp tactical for sure and hope to someday use it in competition (i've only been shooting 5 months now but plan on competing within the next month). By getting stock, i save $500 now. But if anyone has been in my shoes and knows that this is something i'll end up doing anyways, i'd rather buy it custom now and grow into it and avoid the upgrade later. Is this gun what i'll end up with if i get stock now? What are your thoughts? 1. Do you like the Bomar Low? 2. Do trigger jobs help a lot?

Well you could get the 45 now, but it will be a limited ten gun right now. Get an XD9 or 40 and you can start the day you get it. If you get a Canyon Creek Production ready gun, then you will have decided advantage from the start. If you get the 40 you can still compete in Limited ten as well.

I have somewhat close to what is offered by Canyon Creek.
XD45 Tactical 2lb Springer Precision Trigger job Extended Mag Release Don's Guide Rod (one of the prototypes, I can change out the recoil spring if I want) TFO sight's Don't haves: New finish: will be hard chromed one day Grip wrap: personal preferrence If you do it bit by bit you will spend more with shipping then getting it all done at once or buying it from Canyon Creek. Shipping will kill you if you are doing it more then once. The trigger job will make a huge difference for most as it will get rid of the pretravel and reset on the trigger. And a lot of people will shoot better with it as it will break cleaner where you don't have the flinch with a heavier trigger.
