XD45 4" or Tactical?
OK, I know that this is a dumb question, and it depends on my needs, but I was hoping for user impressions/preferences to help me decide.
I have a Kahr PM9 for my main carry gun and a Glock 20 for my home defense/hiking in the wilderness needs. I want a .45 ACP, and I really like the XD. I was initially only considering the smaller version so that I could carry it from time to time; however, the Tactical felt so good in my hand that I'm considering it as well. Any thoughts or impressions that would help me decide would be appreciated. Thanks |

I couldn't make up my mind. Bought the Service to replace my LW Commander as a HD/concealed carry and bumming-around-pistol. Bought a Tactical for Production Class and other shooting sports.
So get one of each. ZM |

As others have said, accuracy differences at the less than 7 yards you would need to defend yourself with are essential impossible to tell. You get a little more muzzle velocity out of the 5" but velocity needs for stopping power discussions are reserved for less manly rounds than the .45 ACP.
I say pick the gun that you shoot best. In a life or death moment that is what you are going to want to have in your hands.

Thanks to everyone that replied, i ended up buying the Tactical. After reading the replies i found that since i am not going to carry and its primary use will be range, competition, and self defense, the Tact. was the better choice for me. |

Having gone the 4" and 5" with my 1911s I knew for me the 4" was the best choice for myself. So when I bought my XD-45 it was the 4" and it's worked really good for both range and carry.
